چکیده

Fall armyworm is a polyphagous migratory pest. Insecticides are used as major components of integrated pest management to control the pest, however, full dependence on insecticides has made evolve resistance most insecticide classes. The involvement ofvoltage-gated sodium channels in excitation cells makes them primary target site large number synthetic and naturally occurring neurotoxins. Consequently, it imperative delineate molecular determinants that mediate interactions between with voltage-gated channels. The present study sought identify residues involved binding these demarcate efficacious depending their affinity took an in-silico approach docking sites along known specific amino acids homology Spodoptera frugiperda was developed predict different insect. current identified acid could enhance effectiveness against fall armyworm. do not also showed this channel, indicating possibility mode action be confirmed by experimental studies. Our findings can direct efforts monitor for mutations result given new interacting were identified. These enable better when develops.

Modelling insecticide-binding sites in the voltage-gated sodium channel.

A homology model of the housefly voltage-gated sodium channel was developed to predict the location of binding sites for the insecticides fenvalerate, a synthetic pyrethroid, and DDT an early generation organochlorine. The model successfully addresses the state-dependent affinity of pyrethroid insecticides, their mechanism of action and the role of mutations in the channel that are known to con...

Investigating the Molecular Mechanisms of Organophosphate and Pyrethroid Resistance in the Fall Armyworm Spodoptera frugiperda

The fall armyworm Spodoptera frugiperda is an economically important pest of small grain crops that occurs in all maize growing regions of the Americas. The intensive use of chemical pesticides for its control has led to the selection of resistant populations, however, to date, the molecular mechanisms underlying resistance have not been characterised. In this study the mechanisms involved in t...

Natural Distribution of Parasitoids of Larvae of the Fall Armyworm, Spodoptera frugiperda, in Argentina

To develop a better understanding of the natural distribution of the fall armyworm, Spodoptera frugiperda (Smith) (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae), and to update the knowledge of the incidence of its complex of parasitoids. S. frugiperda, samplings in whorl-stage corn were carried out in provinces of Argentina from 1999 to 2003. S. frugiperda larvae were collected from corn in localities of the provinc...

Inhibition of the Responses to Sex Pheromone of the Fall Armyworm, Spodoptera frugiperda

Trifluoromethyl ketones reversibly inhibit pheromone-degrading esterases in insect olfactory tissues, affecting pheromone detection and behavior of moth males. In this work, (Z)-9-tetradecenyl trifluoromethyl ketone (Z9-14:TFMK), a closely-related analogue of the pheromone of the fall armyworm, Spodoptera frugiperda (Smith) (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae), was prepared and tested in electroantennogram...

Distribution of elongation factor-1α in larval tissues of the fall armyworm, Spodoptera frugiperda

Elongation factor-1alpha (EF-1alpha) promotes the delivery of aminoacyl-tRNA to the acceptor site of the ribosome during protein synthesis. The enzyme has a number of additional functions, including regulation of apoptosis and interaction with the cytoskeleton. We determined the distribution of EF-1alpha in larval tissues of the fall armyworm, Spodoptera frugiperda , with a monoclonal antibody ...
